About Bengali Script
Used by over 230 million people for Bengali and Assamese. Evolved from the Siddham script. Has 50 letters including vowels and consonants. The script runs left to right with a distinctive horizontal headline. Rabindranath Tagore wrote in this script, becoming the first non-European Nobel laureate. The International Mother Language Day monument in Dhaka honors the Bengali language movement.
