About Yi Script
Used by the Yi people of southwest China. Originally a logographic system with over 8,000 characters. The modern standardized syllabary has 819 characters. Each character represents one syllable. The script was standardized in the 1970s. Over 4 million users. One of the few indigenous Chinese scripts still in active use.
