About Deseret Alphabet
A 38-letter English alphabet devised at the University of Deseret, now Utah. Promoted by the Mormon church to simplify English spelling for immigrants. Four books including the full Book of Mormon were printed in it. Public indifference killed it within two decades. Remains prized by collectors and historians.
