About Grantha
A medieval Brahmic script created mainly for writing Sanskrit in Tamil country. Preserved letters for sounds Tamil had dropped. Palm leaf manuscripts preserve centuries of Hindu philosophy and literature. Ancestor of the Malayalam script and influence on Sinhala. Still used by some traditional Vedic schools in Tamil Nadu.
