About Indus Script
Used by the Indus Valley or Harappan civilization, one of the earliest urban societies. Around 400 basic signs, usually written in short sequences on seals. The average inscription is only 4 to 5 signs long, a major obstacle to decipherment. Disappeared along with the civilization around 1900 BC. Some researchers argue it recorded a Dravidian language.
