About Linear A
The writing of the Minoan civilization on Crete, used from about 1800 to 1450 BC. Its structure is known because Linear B borrowed the signs, but the underlying Minoan language remains unknown. Over 90 syllabic signs plus logograms. Thousands of tablets survive, mostly palace inventories. Often called the most important unsolved problem in ancient writing.
