About Kharoshthi
An ancient script of Gandhara in modern Pakistan and Afghanistan. Derived from Aramaic under Persian influence and written right to left. Used for Prakrit languages on coins, inscriptions, and manuscripts. Deciphered during the 1830s and 1840s. Buddhist texts written on birch bark in Kharoshthi are among the oldest manuscripts from India.
