About Nushu
A script created and used exclusively by women of Jiangyong county in Hunan. Passed from mothers to daughters and written in elongated rhomboid letters. Used for letters, songs, and autobiographies that men could not read. The last fluent writer died in 2004 and revival efforts are underway. Inspired the novel and film Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.
