About Osmanya Script

Invented by Osman Yusuf Kenadid for the Somali language. Has 22 consonants and 5 vowels. Written left to right. Competed with Arabic and Latin scripts for Somali. Officially adopted by the Somali government briefly in the 1970s before Latin replaced all scripts. Still used by some Somali communities.
