About Pahawh Hmong
A script for the Hmong language created by Shong Lue Yang, revered as the Mother of Writing. Refined through four stages from 1959 to 1971. Consonant letters carry inherent vowels altered by diacritics, unusual for a Southeast Asian script. Taught across highland villages before his death in 1971. Still used in Hmong communities abroad.
