About Pollard Script
Devised by missionary Samuel Pollard for the A-Hmao or Big Flowery Miao language of Yunnan. Large letters give consonants and small marks give vowels. Locals called it the seed-throwing method. One of the most successful missionary scripts, still used in Miao churches. Its design influenced the Fraser alphabet for Lisu.
