About Syriac
A graceful Aramaic script that became the literary vehicle of Eastern Christianity. Flourished between the 4th and 8th centuries as a language of science and philosophy. Three classical hands exist: Estrangela, Serto, and Eastern. Syriac manuscripts transmitted Greek learning to the Islamic world. Still used liturgically by millions of Christians.
