A cuneiform alphabet from the city of Ugarit on the Syrian coast. Only 30 signs, each pressed into clay with a stylus. Recorded Ugaritic, a Semitic language related to Hebrew. Deciphered in 1930 after the discovery of a tablet listing the alphabet. Preserved the earliest complete alphabet order, the ancestor of ABC order.
