About Zapotec Script
One of the oldest writing systems of Mesoamerica, created by the Zapotec civilization. Over 500 known inscriptions, many from Monte Alban. Signs include dates in the 260-day ritual calendar, which can be read. The language itself remains largely undeciphered. A likely ancestor of later Maya and Mixtec writing.
